Data Recovery

Many recovery services offer a 'price per file'. But an ordinary Windows hard disk can easily have over 100,000 files. At 3c per file this is $3,000. Others offer a flat rate service varying in price from $600 to $4,000. But very few hard disks require more than ten hours of work. In effect those companies are asking you to pay the highest rate regardless of your needs.

At Recall Data Services you pay only for actual time spent working on your disk. Our 'no risk' policy means that if we cannot recover your data, whatever the reason, you pay nothing (except for callouts and travel, when a minimum fee applies).

We charge $60 per hour in half hour increments, plus the cost of recovery media.

Files can typically be recovered from camera memory, floppy disks and flash drives in an hour or less. For items delivered to our laboratory, the cost is normally time (one hour) $60 plus media (DVD) $5, totalling $65.

Full hard drive recovery takes three to six hours depending on size, speed and physical condition of the disk. Our turnaround time is generally less than 24 hours. This means a full hard disk can recovered and returned to you in one working day from $240, plus the cost of recovery media if needed.

If you prefer, we can recover your data to an external hard drive, which is then yours to keep. Pricing for this service is $125 for an 80GB external hard disk, $250 for a 320GB external hard disk. This is our recommended method when you have large amounts of data to recover.

Physically damaged hard disks, for example, disks which are fire or water damaged, have been dropped, or have broken connector pins will take longer to recover. Occasionally hard drives may need to be dismantled. If this is the case we will check with you first, and give you a firm price before proceeding.

If you prefer we will come to you. On Kangaroo Island our callout fee is $55. This includes the first half hour, and up to 60 kilometres round trip travelling – ie to Penneshaw, American River or Kingscote. After the first half hour, time is charged at $60 per hour in half hour increments.

We will travel anywhere in Australia or internationally. Our away from base price is $400 per day plus expenses. Travel expenses and the first day fee must be paid prior to travel, and are not refundable.

All pricing is in Australian dollars. Prices include GST for Australian clients.

We accept credit card payments via PayPal. International clients must pay via PayPal. Local clients may pay in cash. Tax invoices will be issued to all Australian clients. We will issue 21 day net invoices for Australian corporate and government clients.

We are an international PayPal verified business.

Secure File Deletion

Secure file deletion is a flat rate service—$30 first or single hard disk, $25 each for additional drives. We offer a 25% discount on secure deletion services for registered charities and community groups.

Repairs

Repairs are charged at the normal hourly rate, plus parts (cost +10%). Upgrade prices are updated regularly - see the upgrade and repair page for details. Repairs and upgrades are available in South Australia only.

Four Examples of Data Recovery Pricing:

You send us a single hard drive. It takes us four hours to recover your data. You pay 4 x $60 = $240 plus one external hard drive $125. We pay return postage. Your total cost is less than $400.

We travel to Adelaide to recover data from an office computer. You pay one 'day away' fee at $400 plus travel $180 plus recovery media. Your total cost is $600.

We travel to Auckland to recover data from an accidentally partitioned hard drive. You pay three 'day away' fees totalling $1200 plus travel approximately $1400 plus recovery media. Your total cost is $2620.

You send us the memory card from your camera. You have accidentally deleted all your photos. It takes us half an hour to recover your files. You pay $30 plus recovery media. We pay return postage. Your total cost is less than $40.

If we cannot recover any data from your disk or drive you pay nothing (except for callouts and travel, when a minimum fee applies). Minimum fee for travel is actual travel costs plus one day's time.
